Samsung always has something prepared to amaze us and make us spend our money. This time their innovative spirit and advanced technology brought us something that hasn’t been seen yet. A unique Eyeball-like Samsung Camera that will be presented in the second half of this year. The concept of a 360 degrees image is still unknown to us, so we know this would be the real refreshment for all of us.
The Gear 360
Even though it’s called the Gear 360, people had already started calling it the Samsung Eyeball, cause, let’s face it, it looks completely like a human eyeball. Shooting photos and videos will be completely changed when the Gear 360 gets on the scene. It includes double-lensed sphere of a camera which means it is easy to approach. It has a flat bottom, so it is suitable for any surface as well as the tripod mount. The camera is splash and dust resistant which means it isn’t so durable when it comes to the falling and hitting. It includes a slot for the microSD card which supports up to 128 GB and a swappable battery, all carefully hidden behind small doors.
360-degree cameras, in general, need a companion to work the best way they could. Up until today, we can say that Gear 360 is compatible only with Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. However, the company announces ‘select Samsung smartphones’ option will be soon available. If you don’t own one of these two devices, don’t worry, there is the PC-only application that will allow you to do everything from your computer.
Image Quality is really excellent for a device so small sized like this. However, it can be a little problematic when the subjects are too close to the camera. If you’re having doubts about what the quality would be, get your subjects at least a few steps back from the camera, the stitching will be solid.
The camera shoots 30-megapixel spherical photos and outstanding 3840 x 1920 videos. However, its video and image quality is slightly worse than GoPro 360 Cameras
